Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a very safe process where the verruca is treated by freezing it using a very cold gas. We use a known cryogen to freeze and destroy the affected verrucae skin cells.

During the process the freezing agent may be sprayed onto the verruca or it may be applied using a cotton swab. After treatment, a blister - which might become sore - will usually form. The blister will turn into a scab which will fall off usually 7 to 10 days after treatment.

Cryotherapy can take 5 - 15 minutes and is sometimes painful and stingy. This is a very straightforward procedure causing minimum disruption to our patients, however large and persistent verrucae may need several treatments before the verruca is finally eradicated.

Caustic/acid treatment

Upon assessment of your verruca, your practitioner may suggest caustic acid treatment. Much stronger than the over the counter remedies and available in different strengths, the acid works by destroying the outer dead layers of skin and triggering the immune system into clearing the virus.

All precautions and care is taken to ensure that the chemicals don't harm the healthy skin around your verruca. Again, this treatment usually requires several treatments before the verruca is fully destroyed.

Whilst most patients find the procedure is largely painless, depending on the strength of the acid used in the treated verruca, once the acid starts to work some can feel pain or discomfort.

Swift Verruca Treatment

Swift verruca treatment is an effective approach to treating warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). This treatment utilizes microwave technology to target and destroy the verruca tissue while minimising damage to the surrounding skin. The procedure is quick, typically only a few minutes, and requires no anesthesia. It is suitable for all ages and can be an excellent option for those looking for a fast and efficient solution to stubborn verrucas. Contact us today for more information.
